How Do We Know?
It wasn’t the Walk to Emmaus, but Soups and Sweets was a special time! Not only did we have 30+ dishes and desserts to enjoy, but it was a lively time of conversation, meeting new people, and just having fun together as a church. All this after a gathering of one body in one worship service.
On the surface, it sounds like a group of people singing, talking, and eating together, but did you notice God in our midst?
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” – Matthew 18:20 (NRSV)
- When a first time visitor, and her 2 month old baby, were immediately welcomed with a table to sit at and new friends – Jesus was there.
- When the thought came about that next time we should package up left-overs for those who are home-bound or homeless – Jesus was there.
- When young people were laughing and eating with more senior people – Jesus was there.
- When people who had once been in conflict greeted each other with sincerity and compassion – Jesus was there.
Our new sermon series is geared at recognizing God in our lives, in the past, present, and future, with the aim of inspiring all of us to help others see the same blessing in their own lives. I hope you will join us as we recognize the God we didn’t know we had, the God we didn’t know we needed, and how we didn’t know God chose to need us.
As a side note, there was conversation about how awesome of cooks the people of Creekwood are!
