Creekwood Cares
As a faith community, we are growing deep roots and sharing God’s love with our neighbors and each other. From delivering organized care packages to offering a ministry of confidential listening companions via Stephen Ministry, or responding to prayer requests, Creekwood aims to create a network of care so that all are seen, valued, and heard.
If it is a medical or mental health emergency, you matter. Please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency facility.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is high quality,
one-to-one, Christ-centered care to
individuals (adults) in the
congregation and the community
experiencing life difficulties such as
grief, medical crisis, job loss, divorce, pregnancy challenges, miscarriage, caregiver stress, long-term illness, financial difficulties, life transitions, military deployment of a loved one, aftermath of disaster. Stephen Leaders recruit, train and supervise Stephen Ministers. The training equips congregation members to provide a high level of emotional and spiritual care. Training covers essentials like distinctively Christian caring, active listening, relating assertively, dealing
with difficult emotions, crisis theory & intervention, confidentiality,
maintaining boundaries, ministering
during specific types of crises, making referrals, and participating in
supervision. Stephen Ministers walk
with a care receiver for as long or as
little as the care receiver would like.
It is not professional counseling.
Individuals under the age of 18, in a professional caring relationship and
those with mental illness are ineligible
from receiving the care of a volunteer
Stephen Minister.
God does not intend for us to be
alone. God sends people to accompany us. Maybe you have
received care in the past and now is
the time to be present with others. Or maybe you or someone
you know is walking through difficulty
and could benefit from the gift of a
Stephen Minister’s consistent
presence and support.
Please reach out to Rev. Leslie Smith (214-544-8050 x109) or stephenministry@creekwoodumc.org
