Advent Devotional: Bellamy
This Advent we are asking people to respond to one or both of these questions:
“When or where have you felt the presence of God most closely?”
“Who has shown you that God is near to you?”
This is what Bellamy, a 3rd grader, had to say:
“Whenever times are the hardest and when times are the best, I feel closest to God. One time I forgot my solo during my dance and I felt sad. I felt like quitting, but then I felt God supporting me, so I got back up and finished, and then won a trip to Chicago. It was God who helped me get back up.
In your worst times, God will make it better. When my dad lost his job, God helped him get back up and now he has his own business and is better off for trusting God. What looked like a worse time, God used for good.
There’s always hidden miracles in every bad problem.
My church and my family have shown me that God is near me. The lessons of my church have been really helpful. I’ve been growing as a better person because of my church. Whenever I am going through something tough and I fall, I feel God when he picks me up.”
