Servant to Others

As a firefighter/paramedic, my belief in Jesus helps allow me to have a servant mentality when serving our community. Being a first responder, customer service is key when responding to a call, knowing that a routine call for myself may be the worst day of that person’s life. Having empathy, understanding, and a caring approach to the needs of the individual is what the servant mentality is all about.

I have tried to shape my career around this attitude, and have the approach of “be curious, not judgmental” when waking up at 3 am to replace smoke detector batteries that have been beeping for three days or to shut the water off in a home during our winter freezes.

I have seen God work miracles in many people’s lives in my 11-year career and cannot wait to see what else he has in store. From cardiac arrests that we have been fortunate enough to bring back to life, to horrific car wrecks that miraculously have no injuries found to the people involved, or being prayed over by church members in the communities that we deploy to during wildfire seasons all across Texas. I like to believe that it is my mission to allow others to see God work through me in all aspects of my job, and be able to serve those in need.
