Incarnation isn’t unique to ChristianityThe Greek gods often took the form of humans, and the same happens within Hinduism, but across religious traditions the importance is the same – God comes nearIn a world where God can seem distant – through hard times or our own priorities – the Incarnation expresses to us God’s never-wavering commitment to be close, to guide, and give a tangible reality to an abstract conceptNow, the difference between Jesus and those other examplesJesus and God are one, not manifestations, and not coming for their own glory – but oursNot only does the incarnation express God’s love for us, it helps us know how to best love others.
