Lent Devotional – Decisions

As a High School kid it was cool to wear a WWJD bracelet and man did it impact my decisions… “Get up and go to school on time” or “be late..”

As an adult, I no longer wear the bracelet, I now have a cross necklace that I use as a reminder, but now my decisions are a little harder. Being a leader in my organization we have always led with two main rules: Family First and Help our Clients Succeed and that had always been easy, until COVID.

In 2020 we found out how difficult that would be to practice as clients began asking for billing holds as COVID was shutting down the world around them. We had to decide, do we allow billing holds or do we hold them to their contract? After a lot of deliberation, we decided to allow everyone a billing hold if they asked and would still allow them to use our service. As I walked to my office after the meeting an employee texted me Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ”. This decision would ultimately mean we would lose 63% of our revenue, we just didn’t know it at the time. As the year progressed it got harder and harder to keep up the faith and continue what we had agreed to, but we were able to keep our full staff and never missed a payroll and are stronger in the end.

Wearing a cross or a bracelet is easy, too easy! I don’t think we have to carry a Bible around in the office or in BoardRooms to show you are a follower of Jesus, let your actions show them! Living in a way that reflects Jesus in each and every decision is difficult but ultimately rewarding in the end.
