Advent Devotional 20

The greatest gift I have ever been given isn’t one that I had any control over. There was no begging Mom and Dad. There were no subtle hints made or reverse psychology used. I never wished for this gift. This gift didn’t even come from Christmas, but it is one that I cherish immensely this time of year. This gift is my older sister, Reagan.

Reagan is in her senior year of high school, getting ready to go off to college with dreams of going into the military. It’s difficult to think that the person who has been my best friend and has been so close to me for 15 years, will be off starting her own life and her own journeys far from me. This gift of friendship that I truly believe is the Lord’s doing could be tested, and that thought scares me. What keeps me happy however, is that I know she will take the Lord’s word and goodness with her and she will help others with it. I know, no matter where she goes, we will always love each other, making the gift of the best older sister in the world, the best gift I have ever received.
