Rev. Adam White

Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries

A bit about Adam:

Tell us something about your family?

I am grateful to share life with my partner Blair and our daughter Abby, who was born in July of 2021. Blair is also an ordained minister, serving as an Elder at the Texas Methodist Foundation. We love living in Allen, taking walks as a family, and spending time with our friends and neighbors.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ ~ John 20:19-23

What is your educational background?

I have a BA in History from the University of North Texas (Kaaaa! Go Eagles!). I also hold a Masters of Divinity from Perkins at SMU, and a Diploma in Theology of Ministry from the University of Cambridge, UK.

How long have you been on staff at Creekwood UMC?

November 2021

Describe your current role at the church?

I serve as the Associate Pastor of Adult Discipleship, which also includes some work in communications – specifically producing content for Creekwood’s social media presence. At the heart of my ministry, I long to walk alongside persons, building depth through relationship, spiritual nurturing, and connecting the church to the wider community (very Deacon-y language). Discipleship to me is a life-long journey in which we seek to know God through one another, what’s going on in our world, and by looking at Scripture. I also am a huuuuuuge Wesleyan nerd, so it is my hope that the social holiness John Wesley brought to the people called Methodists will also be a priority in my work and in the life of Creekwood as we continue walking in God’s grace.

What has been your ministry experience in the past?

Before coming to Creekwood I have served around 7 years as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship at Grace UMC in East Dallas. Under this capacity I helped establish a young adult group, organized and co-led with members various Sunday and weekly study groups, offered bi-annual open membership classes on Methodism, preached monthly and supported leading worship, and oversaw website content and a/v support for worship. Alongside my work with Grace, I served for about 6 years in a part-time position as a Curriculum & Content Writer for the non-profit The Missional Wisdom Foundation. My work at Missional Wisdom included writing, facilitating, and teaching courses that fell under the Launch & Lead Academy – a certificate-based educational program that served pastors, seminary students, undergraduates, and others to equip emergent and missional leaders to create faith communities alongside and outside of local churches. I also worked 1 year as a communications consultant at Northaven UMC, where I oversaw communications.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I love spending time with Blair and Abby, and the rest of our family, playing tennis (badly) with friends on the weekend, catching up on European Football (soccer), watching documentaries, and eating dark chocolate when it’s in front of me.
