Director of Student Ministry

 The Director of Student Ministry provides educational and spiritual guidance that is aligned with Methodist traditions and Creekwood’s mission of creating meaningful relationships with teenagers ranging from 6th grade to seniors in high school, grounded in the love and knowledge of Jesus. This includes a Middle School Ministry (6-8th grades) and High School Ministry (9th-12th grades) and Confirmation (7th grade.) This position is overseen by the Executive Pastor of Family Ministries and is responsible primarily for the excellent implementation of any hands-on student ministry programming, training students to be leaders, reaching out and caring for teenagers, and serving as the light of Christ for the youth of Creekwood and the community. 

This position is compensated at 30 hours. 


  • • Ensures Creekwood’s Student Ministry is in alignment with the vision and mission of CUMC. 
  • Implements programming for student ministry on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and special events. 
  • Oversees preparation of all materials for all Student Ministry programming and spaces 
  • Oversees guest follow-up, “we’ve missed you” communication and Milestone Event Recognition. 
  • Direct and oversee Student Ministry trips (summer mission trip(s), camps, and a winter retreat) 
  • • Actively builds relationships with students, volunteers and parents. 
  • • Prays with and for students, volunteers and parents. 
  • Actively works with supervisor and staff to plan for and develop future ministry opportunities within Creekwood’s Student Ministry. 
  • Attends and actively participates in Creekwood team and staff meetings. 


  • • Bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies preferred 
  • At least three years of youth ministries’ experience with proven leadership abilities preferred 
  • • Member of the United Methodist Church preferred 
  • • Knowledgeable of Office Suite and Constant contact preferred 
  • • Ability to organize and prioritize work quickly 
  • • Must be friendly, approachable and energetic 
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate volunteers 
  • • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized 
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in appropriate circumstances 

Time commitment: 

Sunday mornings from 7:45am to 1pm 

Wednesday evenings from 4pm-8:30pm 

Monday-Thursday as needed for successful ministry. (Hours may be flexible so as to have Sabbath time when hours go beyond normal working hours). 

Availability also required for special times such as Easter, Christmas Eve, mission trip week, etc.
