August 2017 Update:
We're so excited to report plans are coming along on our Creekwood Ministries Building! The Town of Fairview City Council voted unanimously to approve Creekwood's conditional use permit, which means we've got the green light to proceed with the next steps in building design. We're still eyeing a fall groundbreaking and, as so many of you know, we couldn't need the space any faster.
Here's the down-low on the building. The building team considered several design options and determined that, given our adequate acreage, a single-story, attached structure would best meet the needs of our church and budget. The current design provides for just under 11,000 SF of usable space, including a secured-access nursery and children's wing and a children's worship area. There will also be new meeting rooms, including a large multi-purpose space that will serve many needs including, large Sunday classes, weekly Bible studies and church fellowship gatherings. Included in the plan is a deck overlooking the pond, ideal for personal reflection, small group meetings, receptions and more. With this project, we're anticipating access to our property via Stacy Road, which will result in improved traffic flow for Sundays and our large community-events.
We've received project-to-date $463,400 of the $1.7 million pledged. We'll have a better idea of final construction costs once all design details are in place. Next steps include finalizing the topography study, finalizing the Stacy Road entrance dynamics and completing building design, which all should be complete within the next month. We still anticipate groundbreaking late fall 2017.
April 2017 Update:
There may not be a concrete truck in the parking lot (yet), but there is lots going on with the Growing Roots campaign. The project’s pledged three-year total is now $1,740,000, and we’ve already collected $367,533. As you know, the project scope includes a 9000 sf Ministry Center just west of the sanctuary.
We’re pleased to report the Building Committee has chosen Nelson Morgan to serve as architect. In about ten weeks, we expect complete drawings and specs we’ll be able to use for construction bidding.
With this addition to our facilities, we’re anticipating the freeing up of six group meeting spaces currently tied up in the Worship Center. Additionally, the new Ministry Center will enable the gathering of a large Sunday school class (i.e. 100-150 member class) as well as other large confluences. The facility will expand Creekwood’s Sunday morning Children’s Ministry capabilities and will open up too many new VBS opportunities to list. It will enable us to offer additional programming and expand the scope of our Special Needs Ministry.
As part of the project, with the children transitioned to the Ministry Center, future plans include renovating the current Children’s Center to provide Creekwood and community youth with a safe, fun place to study, learn, worship and fellowship.
You might have the same question we have, “How soon can you start???” Well, we’re currently projecting groundbreaking to take place this fall.
We invite you to join us in prayer for the faithful volunteers working to take this project to the next stage, and for the professionals crafting the plans for facilities to enable us to continue to do God’s work. which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:3
Dear Church Family,
“Growing Roots” is the title chosen for our campaign to be in ministry and mission through the church in these exciting days ahead. We are blessed to be part of this church at this time and have the invitation from God to do something truly lasting and memorable for Creekwood Church and the community God has called us to lead and love.
Many seeds have been planted over the last 14 years, and it is time for all of us together to grow even deeper in our trust of and commitment to God. My hope is that you will remember your own spiritual roots, which I hope are still growing deeper towards the living water of Jesus Christ. I hope you will remember the churches that invested in you and taught you God’s love, no matter at what age you first experienced it. And we hope you will use this simple prayer “Lord, what do you want to do through me?” to pray about what God’s will is for you to invest for the future through this exciting campaign. If everyone in our church will start to pray about God’s will then something extraordinary will certainly happen.
